India is now at the forefront of the sustainable fashion movement and with all the beautiful fabrics and craftsmanship, there’s no reason that it shouldn’t be. Some brands are making bold statements in the movement by only making clothes that can be traced back to the artists, while some have even created lines completely from up-cycling. Here are five of our favorites right now:

Arture Designs

The name Arture is a portmanteau of the two words Art + Nature. Arture was born in Chennai and makes accessories such as bags, wallets, and sleeves all out of cork! The brand prides itself on being truly vegan in the sense that no animals or the environment were harmed in the process of making their items.

The Burlap People

In the tiny lanes of Kolkata, you will find a small factory where these lovely jute burlap bags are designed and handmade. The cool thing about the brand is that all of their bags are customisable and made with bits of recycled leather. See something you like, but need extra pockets?
