Gabrielle Ambrym’s shop gallery located at the charming quarter of Canal Saint-Martin in Paris.

Seams for Dreams was recently in Paris and we found top designers that were practicing eco-processes in creating their sustainable fashion pieces. We caught up with much talked about designer, Gabrielle Ambrym in her newly opened Parisian shop gallery and discovered her latest Fall Winter 2016/2017 collection entitled “Nocturne Melanesien”, made up of fashion pieces all made from organic fabrics and made by artisans based in Paris.

Ambrym guarantees all who enter the shop that all fashion pieces and accessories are made with ecological fabric/materials and sewn by artisans based in Paris.

The shop gallery of Ambrym was launched in 2015, after being selected by the Paris City Hall. Before its official opening, Ambrym has already become one of the many successful sustainable fashion brands that have been presented on the pages of various fashion magazines in France and Europe and worn by top celebrities such as actress Marion Cotillard, Vahina Giocante and many more. We trace the roots of Ambrym, the sustainable fashion brand and its celebrated designer Gabrielle.

Gabrielle studied at Esmod Paris and after finishing her studies, she went to the National Conservatory of Art and Crafts wherein she developed her desire in designing pieces that carried a strong identity and connection with essential values that she grew up with in a natural environment. She went to Rio de Janeiro and worked in fashion fair trade and went back to Paris and presented her capsule collection at The International Young Designers Festival in Dinard where she was awarded a special distinction that led to the exposition of her collection at the Musee du Quai Branly in Paris in 2009.

The name “Ambrym” was coined from one of the isolated islands in the South Pacific where Gabrielle grew up and she shared to us that a strong tribal culture has deeply influenced her, as seen from the designs and illustrations that she constantly creates, printed on tops, blouses and coats all made from ecological fabrics and materials. For Fall Winter 2016/2017, we see the signature illustrations of Gabrielle printed using artisanal methods on flowing fabrics of ecological origin showcased in her beautifully decorated show gallery in Paris.

Gabrielle shared to us that they put emphasis in working with sustainable fabrics like organic cotton, Merinos wool, natural linen and French “couture” house’s stock surplus. It is wonderful to note from each fashion piece, there is a tag that indicates when it was made, the origins of the fabric and where the production took place.

“Our pieces are produced in our small French workshop located near the shop and our products combine inspiration from remote cultures with local production and quality standards.” Gabrielle explained as she showed us one of the flowing blouses that Seams for Dreams Founder, Evelyn Sharma wore for a fashion shoot in Paris, to be featured here on Seams for Dreams soon.

The latest Fall Winter 2016/2017 Nocturne Melanesien collection from Ambrym can be seen on http://www.ambrym.fr  and can be bought at http://ambrym.bigcartel.com
